Fatal Crash in Iberia Parish Claims Life of Lake Charles Man

NEW IBERIA, La. — Tragedy struck Iberia Parish yesterday morning when a two-vehicle crash claimed the life of 58-year-old Waddell Mulmore of Lake Charles. The Louisiana State Police responded shortly before 6 a.m. on U.S. 90 near Neco Town Road after reports of a serious accident.

Authorities say Mulmore was driving a westbound GMC Sierra when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle exited the roadway, overcorrected, and crossed both lanes. The truck entered the median and collided with an eastbound Nissan Murano. Mulmore, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan driver, restrained at the time, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Officials continue to investigate the crash to determine the cause. This tragic incident highlights the dangers of high-speed roadway travel and reinforces the importance of seatbelt use. Mulmore’s passing has left family, friends, and the Lake Charles community grieving this sudden loss.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Louisiana State Police.
